If you have a spare transmission yoke you can stack pipe (or cut) , and a washer around the slip yoke.
A welder would just get a washer large enough (or protrude a bit if needed).. tack weld it or not onto a spare yoke that will never be used again squarely , put something "soft" that "gives in front of it , tap it from the rear with a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer. Big washers can be purchased from "Ace Hardware" type places. You could even do a combination of stacking a piece of pipe/washers/etc. Remember less force is better.

If you're going to attempt
I've never worked on a 521 , but I'm not sure you couldn't just tilt the engine/trans down with most everything bolted up.... un-bolt the rear transmission case then slide it off ... push/vibrate/press/drive the bushing out carefully ... then in again .... and reverse of the above. I'm not sure you wouldn't be much happier with doing it this way , but I really don't know all factors with you/your truck/budget. In fact I'm not sure how much different these transmissions are over the 240z-280zx-240sx style ones. If it were my transmission I'd locate the new bushing , get it on my bench , then take apart the transmission to get it done (assuming the transmission is in good enough shape). But that's just me. If you don't replace this bushing now you might end up replacing it shortly or it could last a long time idk.

I'd find the cause of the bushing being that far out or keep a real close eye even if it will get replaced. For what it's worth my dad said that when he was 19-years old he cut/welded his own Driveline on his 273/4spd dart. Told me that it was pretty damn balanced , but low + behold it screwed up one of the bearings in his transmission (I never remember which one). The guy is/was very savvy with mechanical everything , so not an idiot. After that all his drivelines wen't straight to the pro's alas I don't know your trucks story or back history very well.

Oh yeah .. take even more pictures , and throw them up in the "how-to" once you're done of course. Either way though.

^^^That's a good idea using the 521 yoke with washers if they can be found the proper size, it would force it in evenly, and that is what you want.

Wow thanks a ton Blue thats what I needed.. that's a perfect idea. I was at Tacoma screw not long ago and they had some big rubber washers that look like they could fit around the 521 yoke. That way I could re use the yoke.
Orr idk I'll ponder.

So we're all still not sure if it will indeed move?? Or will it for sure move?

And I posted this thread on ratsun in my 521 thread.
Mike has yet to said anything.

You cannot use rubber washers, they have to be metal, and you need to tap on them lightly, getting stronger till it moves.

Or buy a stack of them 2 or 3 inches thick, all you need is enough of them to push the bushing back into the shaft it has worked it's way out of.
It's going to take some looking around, whatever you can find that will push the bushing back in, it doesn't necessarily have to be what we have suggested, anything that will not bend the edges of the bushing while pushing it in will work, at least bend it anymore than it already is.

I just went outside and looked around at what I have, I found that a GM yoke would fit in the hole but was bigger than the Datsun/Nissan yoke, so for me a proper size washer and the chevy yoke would work, and there is the possiblity that just the chevy yoke would work, I would have to look closer, but I don't need to.
I have that chevy yoke because I used it to plug the hole when I remove transmissions, to keep the tranny fluid from leaking all over the place after I removed the driveline.

Okay. Banana came over with fat510 and we talked and looked over my situation.... I'm fucked haha. No no. I found an old yoke that can be used to make something to push the bushing/sleeve inward.. we'll see if it goes in any if it does we may just keep pushing it in. Or we could try taking it out?? And replace it.. being there's a lip to grab we may be able to grab but still it will probably be a bitch to pull out?

I would just tap it in myself, if it doesn't work, then pull the tranny.

Me, I'd take my soft deadblow hammer and sit it flush against that collar/bushing/whatever and hit the deadblow with another hammer.
Just hard enough to see if it moves.

Is that the tranny you bought from the guy here in Pasco?

Yep that's that trans from pasco.
I'm not sure how this wasn't a problem for him.. I mean there's nothing I could have done to pull that out. It's not his fault tho. Well I don't think it is.

That shaft is in the way to just put a hammer in there to hit it in.

Find a thick washer that will just fit around the shaft, that will also fit in the hole, if you cannot find one, then you will have to make one.
Maybe the hardware store has a big collar that you can use.

I found an old 520 yoke that fits in there, it's got a lip on it that we believe can be milled down flat or just big enough to hit the bushing/sleeve inward. Should work if the thing wants to move.
