Had it up in the air for an oil change after work yesterday. Noticed that my passenger side motor mount is broken. Not the rubber Datsun part, the 1/4" steel bracket bolted to the block. Well, huh. I guess that explains that mystery vibration I've had for about a year.

Yeah, it's odd. The engine is basically being held up by the headpipe and the pan. It's only dropped maybe 3/8" on the passenger side -- if that, so I never noticed it. Just has a bit of a harmonic at certain RPMs that is more intense under hard acceleration. Really, it all makes perfect sense now.
Still smoother than an L-motor :fu: .

Just weld it, or redesign it?

If I get a slow afternoon at work I'll pull it out and reweld it. Maybe add bracing. I'm honestly really surprised it broke where it did.

I know it. Didn't think to snap a pic when I found it. Honestly, it was quitting time and I'd basically had an ass-load of that place for the week. I'll try to remember to document when I make the repair.

Yup. I kept the frame stands on the stock crossmember and used the factory 510 rubber isolators. The block brackets are homemade. I just went though all the photos I took during the build and somehow I managed to not document them.

Yeah, I knew he had a different motor - some reason I still pictured the stock mount.

Passenger side viewed from the front. You can see it severed and dropped down to rest on the mount. Originally I thought they were 1/4" but it's probably more like 3/16". I pulled both parts and welded it. It'll be fine for now but both sides really should be redone for cosmetic reasons. I originally did them with my old welder which has never been "right". They'll be fine structurally but aren't that pretty.

Beautiful wing dude! I have a '76 sitting in the corner of my garage that I have said for 5 years now, "I will get it running this year" lol
I REALLY want it running THIS year, as it is the 40 year anniversary of the WIng.

Finished blasting the wheel hoops and centers today...finally. Boss is in Vegas this week so I plan to stay late a couple nights and chip away at this project. It's taken forever to get this far. Mostly because I'm a slacker.

Inside beads are welded. 2" beads at 12, 4, and 8 o'clock (to minimize warpage). Let it cool. Then another 2", let it cool, then another, until done. Sent a text to Draynor hoping he can TIG the front side for aesthetics.

He's had them for about a week. Got a text from him last night. Looks like they might be done over the weekend. Then it's time to balance, prep, paint, mount, flaunt.

Still having trouble pinning down a color choice for the wheels. Butterscotch is a tough color to compliment/contrast. Was initially thinking dark bronze. Also considered an eggplant (goldish dark purple) or dark possibly blue. There's probably a really obvious choice that I'm overlooking.

Your suggestions are welcome.
