Re: my 77 kingcab
Might be a good candidate for Seafoam. Pull plugs, pour some in each cylinder, let it sit overnight, clear cylinders, reinstall plugs, smoke out the neighborhood. Probably won't cure it but might free up the rings enough so you can buy some time.
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.

Re: my 77 kingcab
gonna see how the money end of the deal turns out..
it anything, i think ill just re ring the DE. when i think about it, the single cam needs a set of lifters and the timing chain at the least. it was getting low on compression too.
if i can just get it to stop suckin down so much oil, ill be in good shape. then i can swap my cams and be done with the engine for a while.

That video makes for a great sound track!
Your truck sounds healthy when you get on it a bit - nice. The rattles give it some character.
I thought I heard you groan around the 5 minute mark, like it hurt to hit a bump or something.

Re: my 77 kingcab
thanks guys!
lol, it doesnt "hurt", but goin over old railroad crossings does bang ya around a little... haha
the new cams make the top end come on kinda like 2 stroke power... i think its kinda cool how it runs now. sounds a lot better now i hear it from the camera perspective.

Re: my 77 kingcab
I like a semi firm ride myself, guess I am used to it because of the work truck, but I cringe every time my frame hits the ground, so I went to great effort to lower the 520 as low as possible without letting anything hit the ground, the only time I hit now is when I go over a big/large/wide speed bump to fast, when it dives off the back side, sometimes the cross member below the oil pan barely touches, and yes I still have trouble with tall little speed bumps in parking lots, I just avoid going over them anymore.

Re: my 77 kingcab
you nailed it.. you remember what ways you can go around town so you dont mess shit up.. lol
ive gotta raise the engine a touch here soon.. its sitting a tiny bit below the engine crossmember, so its hit a few times..
when i get the coil springs in it, ill see if i might be able to run it a little lower with the higher spring rate.. we'll get that worked out later.

When you get some tires with tread on them, they will hit the exhaust pipe.

Got a guy down here that did something similar. If I ever see him stopped somewhere I'll get a pic. I always pass him on my way to work. His is a little farther forward with a plate that contours the bottom of the bed.
