Re: CL ads
It reminds me of the Herman Munster mobile in that movie.
I don't really like the bed myself, and the wheels sticking out like that is just a ticket waiting to happen, it's not if one is going to get a ticket, it's a matter of when.
It's like they built a square bed but measured it wrong width wise, but just used it anyway.

Re: CL ads
After looking at it some more I'm thinking some trailer fenders would actually make it look better. A different wheel choice would help too.

Re: CL ads
So yesterday I find a CL ad for a running L16 out of a 510 wagon for $60 near me, and I contact the seller within an hour of the posting. We line things up for me to come over after work to pick it up. Then he comes back with, "I just updated the CL ad, I forgot to mention I'm keeping the valve cover. Are you still interested?". I didn't bother to educate him, by telling him it's an overhead cam cover. I just thanked him for letting me know, so I could bring one to keep the crap out of the motor while hauling it home, and that I was still interested.
We had things lined up so I would give him a call as I was leaving my house, giving him about a half hours notice. When I called him he said he wasn't feeling well, and wants to try again Friday. We'll see, but I'm starting to think he's going to flake on me. Sixty bucks for a L16 isn't bad, as long as it wasn't sitting outside or has a hole in the block where a connecting rod exited it (I already have one of those). He didn't have the starter on it, so a compression test wouldn't be easy - I was just going to look at the plugs. We shall see, this might not pan out. He pulled the CL ad, so I couldn't give you the link if I wanted to.

Re: CL ads
K_trip, wish you were closer. I got a L16 from my 68 510 wagon purchase, that I'm not going to use. The lady said her deceased husband was going to drop it in the wagon cause it ran real good.
believe your right, the guy is going to flake on you. There seems to be more popping up lately.

Re: CL ads
Thanks for the offer!
It seems like there are a ton more Datsuns and Datsun parts up in your part of the country. I don't see much around here, let alone anything at good price. Maybe I should make a run up north, one of these days, bring a trailer and haul some Datsuns or Datsun parts down here - LOL
This seller is "coming around" ... a little over a week ago they were asking $2,900 the last week it was $1,900 ... now it's at $1,500 (still too high)
1965 Datsun 410 wagon

I think it's a '64 (based on the grill and front bumper), not that it changes its value or anything.

If your really serious, we need to talk. Just an idea, I can drive it to Canby for you to pick it up there and you can drive it back with the Callie guys. Just a thought.

I've been slammed at work since last summer, project was scheduled for completion Jan '16 but it looks like we're going to slip a little. That and my father wanted us to get his father's car (that would be my grandfather's car) back on the road, before he passes it along to me. Between work and the car project with my Dad, my poor Datsuns have had to wait for attention. I wish I could make it to Canby ... and Blue Lake, too.
