These are what you are looking for the caps for, yes? If so (and even if not) I would paint them dark copper/bronze like you said. But like an old penny, not a new one. That is if they were mine

Agree. That's the way I'm leaning. Just hoping for a suggestion that I hadn't considered.

If not dark copper I would probably do one of these three.

Derek might be the big hero in this project. 2 down. 2 to go. It's gonna be a real push to get these done by the weekend.

3 are done and hopefully the 4th will be tonight. Looking doubtful that I'll have enough time to get them painted and mounted. I'll still try my hardest.

Thanks again, Derek. Now all the pressure is on the painter. Well, a little bit on me too...but mostly the painter.

Put my new bullet mirrors on. Not sure I love them yet but I'll see after a few days of living with them. Now I have 2 ugly unused holes in my driver's side door. Suck.

Got the paint done about 11:30 last night. Black sealer primer, silver ground coat, base, base, clear, clear. Color is called Tuscan Olive. It wasn't what I had in mind when I went to the paint supply store. It's more of a green/gold tone but it looked better in the sun against the butterscotch color than my original choice. I had it custom tinted with heavier flake than the actual sample. Pics when they're mounted -- or see them at Canby.

They're on. I think it's a love it or hate it color. Really needs caps to look right. I'd also like to give the tires a redline treatment.
These things were a hassle to mount. First, the valve stem is on the inside bead. Second, because the hoops are backwards they had to go on the tire machine face down which was a challenge since I really didn't want to screw up the paint. Third, they had to come off the tire machine to air up and seat the beads.
Hassle.
Worth it.

I tried to capture the color but it's really hard with my phone. Best description I can think of is a dark army green with a goldish flake in it. The flake is pretty close to the color of the car. Like I mentioned earlier, they look better with caps and I think a redline stripe on the tire might give it some better contrast. Honestly, you really need to see the color in person.

I got a set of caps from Flatcat. They're...used, so I'll be looking for some nicer examples as a permanent addition. Anyway, I just hung them on the tabs to take a quick pic to give you guys an idea of what it looks like.

Thanks, man. Just trying to figure out a cap solution. Would Porsche 356 caps be too weird?

I think they'd look fine. Either the "baby moon" ones or the ones with the emblem in the center (with the emblem removed of course). My personal preference would be the baby moon ones.
