Ask the dealer if the factory remote start can be installed on yours. I'm sure it can. They work fine.

Aftermarket ones will require a second remote to carry around. Weak.

Good aftermarket ones can be made to work with the factory fob.

Also depending in manufacturer, a lot of cars already are programmed for it, but the fob is not. A good locksmith usually can get it working.

The factory one just plugs in and does everything the AFMs do.

Thanks ! Yeah, I didn't like the idea of carry another remote/fob in my pocket(not a huge deal I guess).
Never have owned anything with a remote start.

Stoked to hear this generation worked out. The tundra (07'-10' ?)next to my folks sounds like a genuine diesel .. Lolz.

Look at the AMP Research bed steps. They are super nice. If you are into that type of thing.

Their electric running boards are SWEET! Ford uses them on their Platinum trucks. They are a little annoying to setup, and probably require yearly maintenance/alignment to keep working correctly.


On the previous gen Tundra, you could get tow mirrors that had turn signals in them (aftermarket), and it worked simply from plugging in...

Pretty sure TheRetrofitSource has LED plug and play foglights for this. And of course you can hit them up for a relatively easy HID/Projector mod for the headlights.


I really like UnderCover tonneau covers, Made of ABS, super light weight and made to be removable. Available painted too.

Thanks Jacob ! I like those AMP Research steps ( pretty damned sorry I ordered and installed the DeeZee set below. They look good , but are clearly universal..) I have no experience with the electric running boards , and will have to look at those. I like the turn signal tow mirrors on everything ! Mmmmmmmmm led fog lights.... Under cover tonneau(s) are what I like myself ! All good stuff.....

Added nerd bars (DeeZee) not sure I will keep them. Meh.

Needed some durable covers. Added some seatsaver seat covers. Really happy for how they work for my needs.

Just about every side step you buy up to the $300 price feels cheap in the hands. Thin metal, cheap chrome. But if they support you it works. DeeZee wasnt my favorite, I forget the brand I liked the most in that segment.

If you like the style, NFab makes some nice parts.

Dropped by the tranny shop I like and trust. Talked to the owner. Good people.

ME: " Hey Corey... what's the largest cooler you can pipe under my truck. Need an estimate to take back to Toyota for *approval* via the warranty thing for my truck. I'm gonna buy it just need to do the footwork."
Him: "What year and model ?"
ME: "That 2016 blue Tundra sitting out in the lot..just bought it a few weeks ago and trying to save the trans".
Him "You don't need one on that truck believe me...... unless you're towing ALL the time..... Beautiful truck..... I just bought another 12' Tundra with 12k on the clock. I love mine. We just typically don't get Tundra's or many toyota's in here , but take a look out in the lot right now .... some ford's/chevy's/caravan's/Titan/Mercedes with odds and ends. Trust me.... You don't need one as the factory one is perfectly fine for towing your cars/moving people/general payload stuff. Mine tows quite well and if you haven't tried with yours yet you'll be surprised. I didn't put a bigger cooler on mine no need"


The guy is always straight up. I'm happy with the opinion of that tranny expert. Doesn't mean I won't have him put one on later..
