I'd save the tail gate but it does have a few issues so I've decide to just let it go. Part of down sizing, can't save everything like I've done in the pass. If I was 40 again, I wouldn't be scrapping anything.

I know what you mean, since my heart attack I have decided to finish my 520 project and move on to the U320 and get that done, I am not going to start any other project until they are done.
When I finish each one, I will be selling or scrapping anything extra, I have a lot of stuff around here that I don't need anymore.

I am ready for Blue Lake!
I put on better parts than have been on it like my new 520 hubcaps, better bumperettes, newer taillight lenses.

I have a rear slider window for it, but am going to wait until I paint it, I will paint the truck without the rear window in it, I might take the windshield out also.

Wayno, that thing looks great. Very smooth looking; the sanding paid off.

I can't believe I just now noticed the tailgate handle. Nice touch.

Thanks guys, it's taken 5 years to get it to where it is now, and had a couple major detours, but now I just want to get it done, it's good enough now(don't need to be lower), the exterior needs paint and that part will be finished.
Then I will gut the interior again and likely paint it, sound deaden it, then put that back together.
All that will be left then is to put the LZ23 in it with the super head and I will then be done, no more body mods, no more lower, no more this or that, it will just be done, well maybe I will install the Pioneer Super Tuner I bought from 510freak a while back, then it will be done!!!

I pulled all the front and rear indicator lights, front and rear bumpers, and badges yesterday morning to ready the truck for another coat of primer, and then it just got to hot, too hot for me to do anything.
Anyone ever primed their car/truck and think it looked ready for paint, only to start to notice all sorts of places on the said vehicle that they would now not consider ready, and the longer you look at it, the more you find, well that is where I am at.
I also have been looking at the door jams and under the hood, the truck was originally red, I am thinking it would be easier to paint it red again, although off white would likely look better, but harder to paint everything.
I can hardly wait for it to get cooler.

Either color will be work if you want it to look nice. Personally, I usually lean toward painting a car it's original color but I can certainly understand the desire to go white as it is a bit more forgiving. Now is the time to put in the extra work.

I spent a lot of time trying to make the rear fender skirts flat except for the body curve it already has, but now that it has a few coats of primer on it, and after I sanded it with 320 grit by hand, I can see all sorts of low spots that my sanding didn't really get to on them rear fenders, and elsewhere too.
I have no intention on starting over again, I am not good enough to fix it and get it done this season, so I expect that it will get off white paint even though the darker red would likely be the correct choice, as the interior doors/interior don't have dents that need to be fixed, all I need to do is prime and paint them.
I wish I were better at it, but I am not, I expect it would be easier to do if it was semi straight to start with, but my creations are what they are.

They look like crap, that is why I replaced them, to make it look better.
They both have bad dents in them, from being bent before I got them, and from me pounding on them trying to make them better, the rust on them is normal.
They actually look better in these photos than they are.

kitty kat, I am convincing my friend to do plate bumpers on his 521, just a matter of how tight of a grip he has on the bumperettes.

Flatcat I have to laugh at this statement, "flatcat19 » Sat Aug 20, 2016 7:30 am
Keep me in the loop.

I sent you pictures in February of this year, you replied give me a week or so. I contacted you back on on "Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:25 AM

Flatcat19 I am letting you know that life has thrown a curve ball and I will need to sell these bumperettes.

My Dog Darla Rose has a major hip problem and the first diagnoses is bone cancer. Will be talking to a surgeon next Wednesday to find out the options.

As it is now it is amputation of the leg or put her down.

If you are not in a position to buys or do not want them please let me know. I will put hem on ebay.

Flatcat19 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:47 AM
"Shit. Sorry about the pooch.

I do want them. My life through me for a loop as well.
I was set up to purchase them right after we talked about them then a few huve hospital bills happened for us.

Do what you have to do. No worries from my end.

Shit. Let me know when you think you'll drop them on the bay. I'll see what I can swing.

Charlie69 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:29 PM

Will do I am going to start them at $150. Let them go or keep them. I hope to sell them but I will not give them away on ebay. I have never sold anything on ebay.

Flatcat19 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:34 PM
I was just getting ready to text you back.

I have a set of core/rebuild able SUs I'm going to put on the bay to try to sell.

Also a set(3) of original metal 510 "DATSUN" fender badges.

Give me a minute to try it out. I'd hate to miss out on a great set of bumpers.

Charlie69 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:38 PM

Will do. Have you sold on ebay before? I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars on ebay but never sold. I will hold for you let me kno how you come out, I will not list them at this time. I would rather sell them to you than put them on ebay.

I found 3 window crank handles if you are in need.

Flatcat19 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:40 PM

Window cranks for mine are bent to shit.

I have been successful on eBay before.
No grand slams, but plenty of doubles and triples.

Charlie69 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:41 PM

I will throw in the window handles with the sale of the bumperettes.

Flatcat19 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:44 PM
Any inner door handles/pulls or lock knobs?

Charlie69 Sent 10 June 2016 - 07:58 PM

I will look but probably not. But I do have a pair of doors on the side of the house and another set at Gene Knights house, but if there was any hardware on those Gene has probably already stripped it.

After that you did not contact me again so in mid August I sold them.

I hardly see how I sold them out from under you.

I had another set but I just gave them last week to Mark Pacific Coast Datsun.

Let's not litter Wayne's thread.

I wasn't dropping names nor posting PMs w/o your consent.

And the fact of the matter I was contacting you.
I heard nothing back after all posted above. Next I heard you sold 521 bumpers to a 620 guy. :Sad face:

Lol. I aint mad, charlie.

Wayne...get that damned motor in this thing already.

There is an engine in it right now, and it drives pretty good, but I have another one now that will run better.
I am waiting for the ARP head stud kit, I still have to drill the coolant holes, buy and put timing chain kit on it, I already have the L20b timing cover.
I also need to buy a gasket kit, just have not went to the parts store to ask how much, the complete ones that are on ebay have to come from overseas, kinda want one sooner without having to pay extra.
Right now the truck/ute is up in the air again with all the lights, badges, bumpers removed, I will be putting more coats of primer on it till it is a little smoother, then I need to paint it before the weather turns.
