It's always ran great, for the most part.
Ran really good on the drive I just took. I'm driving it to work tomorrow. We'll see how she does.
Hell. I drive her almost every day. So...

Me too.
One could come to my thread and say the same thing. And I would post a photo, because I am holding out...

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
With freezing temps in the Tri-Cities, I will probably not be driving the thing.
Some work will be coming soon, for sure.
Winter To-Do, so far:
Grip tape on pedals
L/Z 63A bell housing swap
L18 assemble
Head assemble
SU throttle linkage
Tonneau cover
Disc brakes, hopefully
Under dash electrical repairs
Engine wiring harness replacement
There's probably more. Heading out for gobble-gobble road trip in a few.
I'll be meeting up with MYDAILYROUTINE to get an exhaust manifold and probably hobospider to kick him in the nuts.

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
Brainstorming here... just trying to gather my thoughts out loud.
This involves headlights and what i would like to have done.
I want to buy some H4 housings. LED lights for those; dual beam.
I also want yellow inner headlights.
What I want....
turn on park lights, yellows come on.
turn on headlights, yellows off; headlights on.
flick high beam stalk, high beams from H4 housing comes on-not inner lights.
Can this be done by building a harness to plug in to stock stuff or rewire the whole front section of the harness?
I've been following the diagrams and can't really wrap my mind how to retro-fit this quite yet.
Other updates of lots of stuff coming soon as well. With pics.

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
What you should do is buy headlights with park light bulbs in them, then wire the small bulbs into the park lights, then when you turn the park lights on, the headlights that have them small bulbs in them come half on.
The link below has headlights with amber turn signal bulbs in them, they could be used as park lights rather than turn signals.

I am just throwing out ideas here, I don't know a lot about headlights, don't drive at night much anymore.

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
If I could find single beam H4 LEDs (separate high and low) I would keep everything stock functioning.
I've always wanted amber centers. But also still want functioning hi/low operation.
Still going to work on this diagram a bit more.

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
Side marker lights come on with parking lights right? So could you possibly build a new harness from where the sidemarkers plug in that splits (not spliced and taped mind you) and goes to both sidemarkers and inner yellow lights. And then get dual bulb/beam H4's conversions for the headlights.
I'm completely spitballing since I have no clue how 521 wiring is.

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
I could probably figure out the wiring... It completely doable.
But lets think for a moment. When do you use High beams? When know one else can see; when there is an asshole with his high beams on in front of you.
So then, wouldnt the most amount of light coming from your truck the best? So all four lights.
But yes, low beams, only the white outers.
I think the inner yellows should be more like DRLs, not quite full power.
Edit, I was thinking quad LED lights, Yellow inner bulbs, or yellow film depending on the look you wanted.
Another thing amount different color lights. On my BMW, I have 5000k HIDs (really really white when powered at 50w). But I also have the stock inner Halogen high beams. The color difference on the road in front of me really adds a nice depth to everything. Course, on my commute I have the possibility to drive 20 minutes straight with high beams on.

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
Really with LEDs I dont think you really need to relay the headlights as their draw is so much lower. But it never hurts. The left relay is constantly feeding power from the running lights from pin 30 to 87a, but when you power either the low or high beams, power is sent to pin 86 turning the relay on and the power from the running lights is cut off of going out 87a.
The Diodes keep from back feeding (low and high beams on at same time).
What I dont like, the inner lights are being fed power from the running lights circuit, they really need to be relayed.
If you did quad LEDs, this would be much simpler.

Jacob, not quad LEDs. Yellows as DLR like you said. Outers will be high and low.
I may also put "fog lights" on my bumper to work with high beams...Just to be a dick.
Also...I already did the relay mod Daniel C always posts about. It did very little to help with current light output.

Re: Redemption? flatcat's 521
The wagner lights everyone uses are kinda fog lights, but mostly they are glaring. Really need to be half voltage. I also think they look archaic next to a H4 housing with a clear lens. I would do quad H4 lights. You could also do H1 inner lights and dim those to keep the look of the outers, but they would be high beam only.
I have no idea about Daniel C relay mod, I disregard everything he says as he has a very narrow point of view, but I am also not looking at 521 stuff most of the time.

Lol. I had it on a few months back. One side is bent. Never got back around to doing anything about it.
It's hanging on my garage wall. I hang all my electrical and bungee cords there.
