Re: Converted is back 74 b210
So I picked up a set of turbine mags the same day I got my su's. Yesterday I finally had the time to shine them up and fix the curb rash. I spent 4 or 5 hours solid with sanding down to 240 grit then scuff pads and a 400 grit scuff ball. I'm literally waiting for them to be mounted as I type. For now here's a comparison of before and after

Finally got them mounted and balanced! They look mean as hell. Probably have to roll the front fenders a bit before I lower it, but barely.

I like em. And I normally don't like turbines.

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
Apparently parts just come my way for great deals... picked up a 60 series 5 speed out of a 210 for only $150 today. I never thought I would have one because of the prices driven my British car enthusiasts

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
I've heard prices for 250 for a dogleg to 600 for standard pattern. I think I payed 160 from picknpull for the one I put in my 620. Going to replace the tail shaft seat and maybe the front seat and slap it in there when I have the time

Trade it for a 63.

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
Are you saying you have one to trade? If so I'd do it lol
But from my reading the first gear in the 60a may help my h145 axle survive being behind a modified a 14

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
My question would be why would anyone want a 63 over a 60 with a normal shift pattern?
If you really want a 63 over a 60 I will trade you, I will likely feel guilty for a while, but I will survive.

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
I don't have either right now but have had both. I preferred the 63. It was smoother and quieter. They tend not to have as pronounced 2nd gear crunch when they get older. Plus, the dogleg pattern is racier. Just my experience/opinion. Do what you like.

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
I'll probably go for a 63 eventually if I find one for a good deal, but for now the 60a is already better than I planned. I was going to stick with a 4 speed because of the price tag on 5 speeds. I just saw this one and snapped it up

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
Solid plan. Since the b210 came with a 63 as an option in later years I would think it would be a bolt in with the correct transmission crossmember. I'm not sure about the 60. Since you already have it and the price was right it totally makes sense. Now, keep an eye out for an H150. I killed a couple 145s with my stock A15 but my 150 took all the abuse i could dish out.

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
The 60 is almost a bolt in, but the crossmember is further back. I'm probably making an offset plate to adapt or just moving the crossmember. Shouldn't be too bad, I have the rubber mount and new input and output seals coming next week.
I'm other news I just got a package from the Overseas. I got air horns and filter socks! I have an air cleaner I still may adapt, but I may hang onto it for a project car my dad wants to get. But for now eye candy

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
I spent some time cleaning the su's up and deleting emissions. They still need a bit more cleaning, a few gaskets, fuel line, and delete plates finished a bit more. But it's progress.

Re: Converted is back 74 b210
For some reason your comment didn't show up before. According to banner the 63 is stronger and quieter, plus it doesn't require modifications to the trans mount. I may take you up on the trade, I'll have to check and see if the seals I ordered will fit a 63. I got a couple things to prep for installwayno wrote:My question would be why would anyone want a 63 over a 60 with a normal shift pattern?
