And not a damn thing has been done to the house in almost a week. No updates aside from mounting frustration on my part.

Sooo...I just focused on outside stuff. There is a small pasture at the bottom of the hill next to the driveway. I'm sure at some point it was nice but it was completely overgrown when I bought it. In the last year I cleared it and trimmed, then retrimmed the trees all around it. I also removed some of the beat down fencing. It was overgrown again so I started with burning all the branches, trimmed some trees even more, then mowed. Some before and after shots.

Still needs more work but more presentable than it was when I started.

The other project was mowing the upper field.
Image
And the section next to the little blue house. This is where my future shop will likely go.
Image

Image
The septic guys left a giant pile of gravel in the middle of my field that will probably find it's way onto my driveway. Once I get the little blue house moved out I'll drag the disc around it. I'll also need to rent a skidsteer and clean up the edges of the driveway and irrigation ditches.

Are those pheasants in the pictures? You definitely have a bit of land, I cant identify anything from any given shot. Everytime its like its a new place.

No, those are the neighbor's peahens. Those little buttholes are constantly underfoot. They pretty much live at my place because I've got more shade. Really aren't much trouble but they shit all over my front porch.
Part of my long term plan is to plant some sage brush at the top of the hill mostly just because I like the look and smell. Secondary benefit is that it attracts sage grouse.
On a couple of occasions I've heard wild turkeys outside my window in the early morning hours.

It's really not that big, I'm just showing different perspectives. If I had a recent aerial view it would be more apparent. The majority of the plot is the upper pasture area just below the new house. The green part of spring is already fading and the fields are going brown unless they're being irrigated.

Meet the Rainbro Warrior.
Image
Image
I saw this on CL yesterday and asked a buddy who was local if he'd pick it up for me. He did because he's awesome. Nothing really special but the price was right. My plan is to get current on all the maintenance and do a couple small comfort upgrades once I get it home in a few weeks (it's 450 miles away). Then it'll be my loaner for when buddies are in town.
More in a month or two on this one.

questions on the down spouts. will you be letting the water just run on the ground or you putting in dry wells ?

and about the " Rainbro Warrior ", I'd leave it just as it is and add a pony tail to it. Make a nice conversation piece for your company. lol

hey, you fixed your avatar...

I didn't do anything to the avatar. Not sure why it came back.

Ponytail isn't a bad idea. Maybe I'll pick up a 3rd and dress it out like Strawberry Shortcake.

Downspouts will go into drywells on all but 2 probably. The ones that don't go into drywell will just be piped underground over the hill to the north. Lots of gravity up here.

Painters finished up for now.

Also, electricians came in and got most of the lighting, switches, and outlets done.

Looks like the tile has been delivered and the stone guy started his prep too. Things are looking up.

So while all that was happening, I was playing in the desert on the west side of Owyhee Reservoir. This was basecamp.

Pretty nice free campground right below the dam.

We only rode a few hours on Friday afternoon.

Not sure what this phenomena is called but it was constant on Saturday.

They don't have nearly as much meat on them as you might think. But they do taste like chicken.

Saturday we rode 109 miles to the south end of the lake and back. This is the headwaters where the upper Owyhee river feeds the lake.
Image
This cabin was nearby.
Image
And this piece of equipment wasn't too far from there. Nowhere near any field. Just sitting in the sagebrush.
Image

We took a side spur to try to ride to an air strip shown on the map. It had probably been years since anyone had been on that road/trail.
Image
Image
We went as far as we could but it was washed out with no way around. Probably less than a mile to the location. I think I probably could have found a way on the bike but no way for the guys on quads and the side by side.

After backtracking, we found our way though some low marsh lands before finally coming out at Freezeout camp.

Last snake died by .44 mag. He didn't get eaten but might end up as a hat band.

It was a great weekend. Saw lots of country and no one got hurt.

Thanks fer the update. Glad to hear that the guns were not shooting anyone. The guns had some responsible owners around.

not sure what the circle around the sun is called, ( could look it up, but won't ) but when their is, it means the weather is going to change. Usually means rain in the forecast. Just in case someone didn't know that.

does rattle snake really taste like chicken ? I hear it does but ?????? just not sure since I've never have tried it.

just read where PB pic's are showing back up on Ratsun, maybe that has something to do with your avatar. Or the Russian's gave in.

Tater - thats funny, I agree.

From whats been done in the house, about time to get ready to move in. If they could finish 1 room, you could move in until they finish the rest of the house. Where are you staying while this is happening, dad's ??

I don't think I'll step on any toes by saying he is living in a house down the hill from where that one is being built.

Looks like a fun time Jess, lots of open country to have fun in. Also, instead of a ponytail, I would probably just put glittery tassels on the back rack. About a foot long

Tater is right. I'm staying in the little manufactured home at the bottom of the hill. I took a deposit on it and it's tentatively sold as of June 1st. The buyer isn't really in a huge hurry and I have until July if I need it. My parents would let me stay at their place if need be but I'd rather move once than twice if I can. I'm hoping I can occupy in a month.

Yes, it tastes like chicken. Lots of bones but not much meat. I'm not sure what the backstrap of a snake is called but its about the size of a spaghetti noodle. That's where the majority is, the rest can be scraped off the ribs. Not my filthy thumb...
