Put some oil in the RB tonight and cranked her over. They shipped it dry, should have figured. Nothing but a little black icky. The compression test was done without any oil, but there should be plenty of residual left and with no plugs in, I'm sure it's fine. Very little stress on the engine at that point. If not, we'll find out!

Alright, had a little time today to play with the wagon. Have the radiator out, p/s pump draining, all major electrical disconnected in the engine bay. Took off the shifter, and as soon as I get a little more time, maybe tomorrow or something, need to get under the car and remove the driveshaft and crossmember, then get the hood off and start yanking, or something to that effect.

The shifter plate looks like a 240, but the hole is in the middle, not offset to the rear much. I'll take more pictures tomorrow. Got the engine out of Wynona tonight. Also put some Marvel Mystery Oil down the bores of the RB to see if I could free up the rings after the first compression readings today were

150-180-170-160-170-180

The second test after letting the MMO sink if for a few hours and then running it to get any excess out was

178-195-200-185-190-195

It seems cylinder 1 is a little weak. 4 as well. However, who knows how long this engine has been sitting. Either way it's 11% difference, which isn't the greatest, but it should be fine for a factory motor. And over time, that may improve once the bore gets happy from running again. I'm thinking I'm going to change the timing belt and a few other things and just put it in. Still have a few things to do for that though. Need to measure transmissions and oil pans.

Seafoam once it's in and running.

Also, your pics are too small.

Lol, well don't hold your breath. I had literally 2 hours to play with it this weekend, the rest was re-painting the bathroom and finally finishing all the trim. I redid the bathroom in 2007, I never finished the trim. We're hosting Thanksgiving for the in-laws this year, so decided it was time to make at least one room nicer. And I've had a pile of trim on the floor for about 4 months. It looks much nicer now. Still need to make a double door for the cabinet, it's just open now. Either way, it's ready to go for Thanksgiving. Of course, now I look at the bathroom and think how nice! And I look at the rest of the areas and think, damn, lots to do. ;)

I did try and burn the clutches out of two drills attempting to get oil pressure on the RB. Turning the crank bolt. I have a giant old Craftsman that fared pretty well. I can turn it for about 20 seconds before it tries to overheat and you get that lovely electric clutch smell. I finally started reading online about filling the oil filter hole with oil so it backfeeds the pump, and that worked like a charm to get oil pressure. Apparently a common problem with RBs for starting up. Not like the L where you drive spindle it and all is good.

Anyway, did that, got oil running through everything, so that's good. I still think 1 and 4 are weak, but they come up with oil in the cylinders so oh well, it'll be fine. I'm actually really tempted to make a stand and run the motor on the stand first before I put it in the wagon. I also measured the oil pan bells and confirmed I will need approximately 3/4" out of the crossmember unless I do a custom oil pan. I'm seriously considering doing the pan instead of the crossmember, just for ease of installation. The crossmember is pretty skinny where I want to modify it, and the rack hangs off the back.

Here's some pics: Of the bathroom. :) First ones are back in '07, see what I started with? Rose is helping. She had a bit of a hard time with taping. And painting. It turns out it was harder than she expected. I had to come help after she had a little 5 year old meltdown. ;)

Most definitely her. ;) Tomorrow, after I finish putting new speakers in the hardbody, I'll be yanking oil pans off the RB so I can have Joe modify them for me. The other 910 build with an RB sectioned the crossmember, but there's not much material there. Talked to Joe he sectioned a few other RB oil pans for other stuff, so I figure I'll go that route and I can leave the crossmember alone.

I have a bunch of pictures to upload, but I have to go up to Petsmart to return the incorrect dog food I bought. Sigh. I remember when I only had 1 dog and she just ate whatever I brought her. 4 dogs is too many. Sucks they're all so cute.

I have the oil pans draining over oil buckets since last night, they should be relatively clean with the two cans of brakeclean I dumped on them. Need to drag them over to Joe's for modification. Got my timing parts in the mail today though! MAF cam yesterday. Need to find a connector for it still.
