It likely had to happen at some point, but this would have been a bit long of a wait for me, I would just want them to finish their part so I could start on my part.

It's pretty far off track at this point. Apparently the builder is going through chemo and doesn't want people to know about it so his sons are trying to get the jobs done. At least that's what his oldest told me. The thing I'm kind of worried about now is getting the final inspection passed since .gov is basically closed. I can't do my sheetrock and move in until that's passed.

Yup. Getting closer. Builder was saying the inspector is still working regular days but trying to avoid inspections when people are on site. However, the electrician is being a little bitch and may need to be replaced.

shop is looking great. I've been chatting with freaky510 aka Brian about pole buildings cause thats what he does for a living and I moved to Lewiston Idaho last June and need to build a shop. He mentioned when installing roll up door/s to get the ones without the insulation. Reason is, he said, go to home depot or building supply store and buy the 2" styro-foam panels and cut the sections to fit into the doors. Cost is suppose to be a lot cheaper. Anyways, hope that helps ya save some $$$$.

Before I signed with this guy I went to look at a couple he was working on close by me. I asked him about insulated doors and he said that's all his supplier stocks. Non-insulated is special order and only saves about $100.
I figured I'd work in it for a year or two and decide if it's necessary to add a ceiling and insulate above. No plans for heat at this point but that could certainly change. I worked in my last one for 15 years before I got the waste oil furnace. My dad's shop has no heat and it's plenty bearable even when it is well below freezing outside.

Doors in and final inspection passed. Still can't get an electrician so I may end up doing it myself.

Electrical is not that hard to do. Most of the complication is in the main panel and the grounds. The outlets, lights, and 220v stuff is pretty straightforward. The only thing I would check is there are a lot of new codes regarding GFCI and/or AFCI. Should not apply to a outbuilding as far as I know (maybe if you put an outlet in the bathroom) but wouldn’t hurt to check. Those breakers are a lot more expensive than the standard thermal trips. Also, regular Romex would be fine if behind Sheetrock but if exposed it would need to be in conduit.
