In the end I think it is a personal preference thing, you have a black theme going on(black hood and posts), but the bumpers are still chrome, also I believe them are truck hubcaps so it is really personal preference, it looks good either way in my opinion.
You also had a chrome strip for below the door???

Good eye. I had used some glass glazing tape to attach those but the ends were working loose so I pulled them. When I went to my brother's shop last week he gave me some 3M tape made for that sort of thing. I reattached them and added a countersunk screw to each end.

I also decided to go ahead and install the caps. I made a notch in each one opposite of the drain hole so I'd be able to get the pry end of the lug wrench underneath. Put a little piece of electrical tape in that spot too. Last thing I did was bend the tabs in just a but so the caps would actually pop on and off.

Gave the lug wrench and spare tire tool a fresh coat of paint.

Once I had it all back together I took it for a 20 mile loop and snapped a few more pics. Ran fine, as usual. It was less echoey but didn't make the windows rattle any less.
You wouldn't know it from the photos but it's 95* out there.

I think I like it better with the caps when the rocker trim is in place but I like the bare wheels without rocker trim.

looks great with the caps and lower trim. Whats the trim from ? The trim looks wider then the stock ones.

It's just aluminum bar stock that I profiled, sanded and polished.

Looks nice! I hope to be enjoying my wagon before too long as well. Fingers doubly crossed. Got my RB25 bracket for the PS pump yesterday though. It came early! Super stoked, we'll see if it works today.

I think either way would have been a good choice.

How nice is the carpet? I have the carpet that 71Dimer was selling, but it is just Home Depot indoor/outdoor carpet.

Kinda pricey for what it is but it fit pretty well. It's wide enough to roll up the inner rockers and tuck under the sill plates, which I didn't really expect. The floor mats had some shape irregularities too. Overall it looks pretty good. Certainly looks a lot more finished since it's never had any while I've owned it. New car smell too!

Alright, this thing is just about wrapped up. I got the coolant reservoir and new hose installed. Also put the horns in.

I'm kind of down to the nit picky details now. The horns have never worked and I figured out that it was just the horn button bottoming out before making contact. A little spacer and some epoxy should solve it. Also, I don't remember the high beams ever working. I traced that down to a finicky relay. I popped the cover off and cleaned the contacts. It actuates but only actually works if I apply some sideways pressure. Haven't decided if I'm going to mess with it much more.

Tomorrow I plan to finish my kick panels and replace the speedo drive seals. Then it's time to clean it for glamour shots and get it listed.

That's right. I like it but it's really just in the way at this point. I'd rather have the cash for other projects.

Awwww! If I didn't have the 910 wagon, I would most definitely consider buying it, it looks really nice. I do sometimes miss my 510 wagon. Had two of them, one was a rust bucket. Still fun though.

I'm hoping my surprising lack of rust helps it sell. If it does, cool. If not, I'll drive it a bit. Just cleaning out the closet.

I think I've got all the little tasks crossed off the punch list now. I played with the relay some more and finally found the bad contact spot and remedied that. Since my headlights were finally working right, I was able to get the high beam indicator wired in.
Image

I also figured out a horn button spacer so it doesn't bottom out and epoxied it all together. I'll let it cure overnight.
Image

I started on the kick panels yesterday so I could get them painted and let them dry. Got them installed today. For some reason the installed photo came out gray but they're actually flat black.

I may have mentioned in a previous post that the car managed to get a light overspray on the top surfaces. You couldn't see anything but you could feel it. I was going to buff it out again but my brother suggested clay bar. It worked great and didn't splatter compound all over everything.

The final thing I did was replace the O-ring and seal on my speedo drive. Also found the the unused reverse light switch was leaking so I sealed it up too, then topped off the transmission oil.

Hopefully tomorrow it'll be sunny and I'll go take some pics and get it listed.

Looks great. I would think it shouldn’t take long for it to sell.

When it is gone you need to go pick this up.
