FB marketplace. Need to stop browsing LOL. I’m in the process of gathering info on the little bugger. All I know right now is it’s a mid 60’s Daihatsu Hi Jet, S35 model (I’m guessing) with a 360cc 2cyl water cooled 2 stroke. It’s rusty and dinged up but not horribly so and seems to be mostly complete. TBH, the suicide doors sold me.

Not really sure yet. Probably depends on if I can find the stuff to at least get it running, steering, and stopping. Damn impulse buys.

I got the whole brake system torn apart to see whats doing since they were not working from sitting for who knows how long. Truck looks to have 32k, which may be high mileage for one of these. Good news is everything came apart with a little liquid wrench and some heat. Drums look to be fine but will get them cut (so long as I can find a place that can cut these tiny things). Front shoes were almost new but the rears are pretty worn which is weird as the rear hydraulic circuit is plugged off at the axle distribution block for some reason (maybe cylinders were leaking?) May need to look into getting the rear set relined. Wheel cylinders surprisingly were not froze too badly and the bores cleaned up decent. I am not liking the tiny bit of pitting still there so after some sleuthing I found MGBGT rear cylinders look like they may either fit the front with minor mods or at least donate their guts if not. For the rears it looks like early Subaru 1400 cylinders will work. If not, again, they will donate their guts. Ironic that I just recently sold off all my Subaru 1400 spares. Brake and clutch masters actually cleaned up pretty good. Had to use the old grease gun trick to push the pistons out because they were stuck pretty good. Initially forgot to plug the reservoir hole and shot grease up about 6 feet! LOL.I used a 520 clutch master rebuild kit and the seals out of a 1200 kit to do the master. We'll see how that works. Still need to pull the slave and see whats doing there. I have ordered -3 line adapters and SS brake lines to replace the rubber ones. They look fine on the outside but who knows the inside condition and SS lines are not expensive. Working to source real tires and tubes then I can move on to seeing if it will run. Its not stuck so that is a start. Need to find some basic info like if it 6 or 12 volt and whether it is positive or negative ground. If it had an alternator I would just roll with 12v and neg, but since it has a generator it could be either and I don't need to fry anything I might not be able to replace.
