I have never understood why people want to use a used master cylinder.

It's the heart of your braking system.
Maybe I've just seen too many bad things.
It just scares me. I'm a wimp that way, I guess.

FINALLY got the truck back from the exhaust shop, may have taken too long but it sounds great. Has a nice purr at idle and a good roar at WOT! Yet it's not annoying so I'm happy

Banner and Kipp came over yesterday to hang out and turn wrenches!


had to buy a new multimeter that doesnt lie to me to find out my alt is only charging at 12.2...........

So now i need to figure out an IR alt swap,

next up was the brakes! why? because they decided to fade to nothing OMWH from work yesterday! YAY!!!! im super excited

I had been previously told about this "mystery" valve that only late model trucks have..... hmmmm a mystery valve in my braking system. that could explain a lot...

this was the info i had to work with, pretty good info too IMO

first set of instructions
"Bleeding should be conducted in the following order : master cylinder, load sensing valve, right rear, left rear, right front, left front.

theirs 3 bleeders on the load sensing valve.
start with the front one ~ reason is, the brake line is from the masters, enters in front of it and flows towards the bleeder. This bleeds for the front brakes.
then bleed the rear one, reason is, this bleeds the rear brakes and fluids flows towards the bleeder.
then the middle one, reason is, it's the only one left.
here's a pic so you can see what I mean."

Armed with that and a few friends to help pour fluids, bleed bleeders, and pump the pedals we were off!

So the mystery valve was found, and found to be mal-functioning IMO

Kipp was over and I listened to his truck and it sounds nothing like mine.

So it will also need replaced during the brake upgrade.....

So long story short im replacing my whole braking system minus the hardlines, booster, and front calipers.....

also time for an IR alt upgrade....

ugh.... more $ spent in places i didn't wannna spend it

and im going to have to do my brakes in 2 parts...

master cylinder and NLSV first to make sure both those function correctly
then the rear discbrake upgrade and rotors/pads for the front...

Why not eliminate the LSV? Unless you haul lots of heavy stuff all the time it really is not needed.

You should have no problem finding an IR alt.
Ed delivered a brand new KA alt to me last time I was there at 11:00 at night.


Did that window regulator ever make it your way?

i am eliminating the Valve....... just need to figure out the softlines to do it!

as for the IR alt, i just need to find thw write up and read it

no the reg hasnt made it to me, he seems to want me to come get it and hes 30 - 45 min from me so that will have to wait :/

but, ifyou willing to throw some things in a box for me i can give you a list of what i need for my dads truck
