WTB weber carb for 1980 Datsun 4x4

My brother in law has a 1980 Datsun 4x4 that he had the stock carb rebuilt--still doesnt run right. I told him get a weber....
Any help would be appreciated.

Webers direct shows $250 with auto choke,Or $300 with manual.Not too bad(imo) Usually 32/36 webers need a rebuild when used,and at rebush

if you have the stock carb, I'd figure out whats wrong before plunking down more money.

I'm no expert but what was going on.

He had a mechanic rebuild it.....still dies on him...like the float sticking or the needle?

if the float is sticking then the person rebuilding the carb forgot to install the collar. It looks like a very small and short tube that fits on the end of the float hinge. It keeps the float from moving forward or backwards and binding up.


you have to go into the 620 section, in the carb page to view the part, not sure why the link isn't working.

I'm another vote for keeping the stocker. Not trying to turn this into a "fix it over the internet" thread but, if its a fuel level issue it should visible through the sight glass. Might be something unrelated to the carb too. Vacuum leak? EGR hanging open? Weak fuel pump?
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.
