地獄へ道づれ "Jigokuhemichidzure" is the Japanese word for: "another one bites the dust" ... .. at least that's what google translator said 6 months ago, when I named this 710 coupe. Now google says it means "companion to hell" ... either way, the name seems fitting for my first Datsun build since the Rusty Ruby massacre.

All the pics in this thread are taken with a 1960's Pentax, and hand developed by myself in a darkroom:

It's a 1974 710 Hardtop, converted to look like a 1975+, with park bench bumpers

my plans include:
-Mustard paint job
-160j SSS front end
-Custom drive-shaft tunnel
-Air shocks and modified leaf packs in the back
-Aero-Sport air bags in the front, with the ability to switch back to coliovers (hopefully)
-4 wheel disc brakes (280zx front, 80' 200sx rear on the H-165)
-Either a SSS L18 with dual SU's ... or the KA24DE out of my wagon (with a rear sump oil pan)

Here's the L18 block, with a 219 SSS head placed on top:

It came with the better looking 74 bumpers. I might modify the rear one to look like a 160j bumper. I just threw on the wagon park benches to protect the car better. (I had to modify the coupe bumper brackets to fit a wagon rear bumper)

I haven't touched the wagon since I got this coupe ... now it's full of coupe parts and interior pieces ..

Here's the 200sx brakes on the stock 710 H165 axle .... the previous owner even got the 710 parking brake to work:

Here's the motor, in the wagon, that I want to put in the coupe:

Here's option #3 for the motor ... a non-turbo CA18DE:

I ended up C-notching the uni-body frame rails, and used some curved pieces of 1X2 square tube to reinforce all the places I cut out. This pic shows the brace in front of the back seat is fish plated to reinforce the 1X2 tubing. And the curved piece between the shocks is where the pumpkin was hitting:

Image

Then I bent some 18ag sheet-metal over a 2-1/4" piece of round tube, to try to match the gradual curves of the stock drive-shaft tunnel:

This looks like some kind of bug with 8 legs crouched down waiting to attack when the hood is opened, it has some kind of communication devise planted in the side of its head to talk to others of its kind.

The tunnel mod looks really good Indy.
