Brown's 4-door 510
Brown's 4-door 510
well i guess i will start a thread for all you happy ppl.
quick back story.... month or so ago my truck was totaled. looked around to try and find another k/c but didnt find anything that would have been a suitable replacment. So with lots of help from my friends i Hit up the keeper and arranged to pick up a 73 510 4-door. i will just post pics now with minor talking as i dont feel like typing anything. Kinda hoping this gets the motivation juices flowing because to be honest i havent touched the damn thing in a while and im running out of time fast if i want to make it to canby... I have a good amount of work ahead of me....
These were the pics the keeper sent me when we first started talking
needed some love
pulled the interior out and the floor pans are in good shape.
the keeper helped me straighten out the not so straight parts, replaced the spare tire well, threw on a straight rear driver door, scored some good tails, a grill, headlight surrounds, and tons of other odds and ends to make the car complete (aside from needing a motor)
Loaded it up and brought her back to oregon.
Under coated the fender wells
Hoping to find time to make it up to pdx to pull my L20 out of my truck along with my 5-speed. I have a experimental engineering crossmember so i can run the long tail. Need to find some wheels and get them wrapped in tires. Waiting on parts from rock auto so i can go through all the brakes and replace the rubber lines, need to treat the gas tank (that is amazingly clean inside), replace the needed suspension bits to make it road worthy then just DD the things and work out things along the way. The car will get painted white. Thats the idea at least. Idk... Keep an eye on the thread and we will see what happens.
My goal is to drive this bitch to Canby 2014. we will see what happens with that. I needs to stop and go on its own power, needs to drive safe and straight down the road, and have new wheels and tires for any of that to happen.
Ready?! GO!!!

Hell yeah nice 510, nice little back story.
It does look like you've got some work to do but hey that's the fun!
Luckily you had some people that were able to give you a hand with everything,
And in the future..
Good luck man! Get'er done and make it to Canby

I have to call into question, the year of this car. To my knowledge there was no 4dr made for the 73 model year. 73s have things like the lighted knobs, reinforced doors, and a few other odds and ends. Maybe its just a 73 by registration?
Re: Brown's 4-door 510
yeah prolly... the door tag says 73 im pretty sure. Im not super savy on that kind of info.... I will double check the door placard again later to verify
Re: Brown's 4-door 510
lots.... first right now that is kind of a priority is motor mounts... i have the bushing part... just not the bracket that bolts to the block.

Pics = bueno!
Are you keeping the interior panels white?

When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.
Re: Brown's 4-door 510
Yeah the panels will stay white I think. So will the back seats. Replacing the front seats with something different tho.

Sorry, I was channeling my inner flatcat.

This car has become my inspiration. I love everything about it. White, 4 door, mesh wheels, and the perfect ride height. It's perfect aside from the roof rack. Not a fan of that.
