My brother came by this morning so we could finish up a couple things. We reinstalled the aOOgah horn inside the bottom of the grill shell pointed to the right. Scares the holy hell out of hipsters on fixies.
We also installed the CableX speedo drive under the seat and measured for a custom speedometer cable. The last thing we did was try to pinpoint the source of a vibration in the rear. Looks like he has a bent axle on the driver's side. Now we're thinking about some suspension work. Given the list of needs; new brake lines, master cylinder, front pads, kingpins, rear brakes, and a replacement axle -- it almost makes more sense to upgrade than repair. Seriously considering Mustang II up front and Jag in the rear. Likely bagging it too. We'll see.
Anyway, he's put quite a few miles on it his summer. So far the only hiccups have been a bad U-joint and some suspicious RR tire wear.

It's always been on there and seemed weird to drive it around without that horn. The actual horn button has never worked so you push the cruise button on the end of the TS stalk to honk it.

It's been pretty standard streetrod fare for decades. In stock form it's pretty lame but by the time you upgrade to larger rotors and calipers, tubular upper and lower arms, and replace the coils with either coilovers or airbags they aren't so bad. Luckily, there's a huge aftermarket now and only the cheapest of basic kits don't come with those upgrades. He's been wanting to do it for quite a few years but it hasn't been much of a priority since the engine was so worn out that it really wasn't that much fun to drive and couldn't be trusted to always get you home. Maybe it'll happen in the next couple years.

It could certainly use it. It's actually got a mix of 45 year old cardboard headliner and 25 year old amateur seat and door panels that were in my '35 when I bought it. It's useable but certainly not nice.

Fresh interior would really set this thing off lol. Makes for a nice cruise when it's clean inside. I love driving my truck. Insides super clean. Tho driving old ratty is fun too.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as an update. A couple months ago I posted a pic of this Nova that came in to the shop for some work.
Well, it came back for some more work last week. The dude who owns it has a pretty heavy Jamaican accent and actually isn't much of a car guy so there's always a challenge to understand exactly what his complaint is. Among several other things on his list, we thought he was having problems with his ratchet shifter when it turns out that the transmission wouldn't shift out of 2nd and into 3rd. No noise of slipping, just wouldn't shift up to 3rd. He wasn't really wanting to spend the money on a new reman so I offered up the TH350 that came out of my brother's pickup. It was just sitting in the corner taking up space so it won't be missed. I built it probably 15 years ago with a Hughes converter and a mild shift kit and I doubt it even has 8000 miles on it. I saved him about $1k over the stock reman.
Once I got it installed I set out to hook up the kickdown cable since it had never been attached with the old transmission. I had it all hooked up and from under the hood it appeared that it should work fine -- but it didn't. Come to find out, the throttle linkage was only allowing about 2/3 throttle from inside the car. Once I got that straightened out all was well. It got picked up yesterday morning and he came back with a question in the afternoon. I asked how it was running and he said he loves it.
It really needs better brakes. He's gonna put it in the ditch.

Got a text from my brother last night from the side of the freeway. Dirty slut pitched the driveline. Looks like we'll be doing an 8.8 disc brake with limited slip along with the new shaft.
