So whats going on?

A waiting game!

Derek came over last weekend. Started cleaning up the block from all that terrible silver crap. Had him de-ring the pistons, while I brake cleaned the block (only I found that would dissolve the silver stuff that coated EVERYTHING).

The first thing I noticed, I was not a fan of how the rod journals looked on the crank. A tad not polished for my taste, but then again this is a datsun motor, and it could be just fine. But one thing is for sure, I would rather not have to open this block again.

Next thing I noticed. As Derek was placing some pistons onto the ground, I glanced over and noticed something wrong. It turns out 2 of the 4 pistons have a chunk of metal missing between the first and second rings.

So what is the plan? Thats all Derek. I want him to find a new L20b crank if possible. He did order some parts that were needed, and some have even showed up at my house.

So whats next? New pistons, a quick hone job. Assemble the short block. Drill necessary holes for LZ conversion. Assemble motor.
