I would almost look for a new head. Who knows how clogged/deep that rust is on it.
Being an L16, even a 210 head would work fine for you.
Any other head will lower stock compression. Not by much. But still.
Keep an eye on local yards for fresh Datsuns to show up.
You may just come up lucky. Every L18 I have ever taken apart has had an A87 peanut on them.
5 in total so far.

Hmmmmm........ Need too look for L18's...... Yeah. The block looks great, but the head makes me worried. I really want more power so alot of cheap alternatives I feel are in the future.
I have heard L24 flat top pistons are the same diameter as L16 pistons, is this true?

It is true.
L24 flat tops and a U67 head(easy to find) will be a fun little ride.
I had a friend with a 521 with the same motor. Zippy little thing.
But more power? L20B is the best bang for the buck you'll be able to find.
NOTE: U67s came on the earliest L20Bs.

Hmmmmm....... Do you know about how much power it was pushin?
I don't expect much over 100hp, but I don't need to much, I have natural weight reduction.
I got this L16 for free so I'm goin to use it.i don't have too much cash

I've found 3 L16s with the W53s on them.izzo wrote:Nice man. every L18 I have taken apart has had a W53 peanut head. JDM imports, yo.
All the L18s I have found had an A87. Never anything different.
The L18 I will be using will be with a W53 though.

Not a lot. A stock L20B will net you more.Spoona_Jay21 wrote:Hmmmmm....... Do you know about how much power it was pushin?

But it sure sounded good and ran well.
This was the Dr's 521, if anyone even remembers that thing.

either way, I'm. Not too concerned about hp, torque is what I want cause until I change my rear gears I will still top out at 78mph on a flat

Torque? Once again, L20B.
L16 is not a torquy motor.
L16 is more top end.

Slow down.
I didn't ask to get married.
Just a drink or two and we'll see where it takes us.

L16s are fun. If you could run a cam, su carbs and a lightened flywheel they feal even funner.
But if I had a stock one ready to drop in on a budget I would in a heart beat. Then stack up parts for the next one.
