Re: Indy's 2dr 710 named "Jigokuhemichidzure"
Yeah .. I would never drive on 5" blocks and I want to modify the rear shackle mount someday
I just used the 2" blocks on top of 3" blocks to figure out how much of the driveshaft tunnel to cut, because without a fuel tank it was already an inch higher and the extra inch is just for clearance:

I had this 4x6 sheet of 18 gauge sheet metal, that I got a few years ago for the Rusty Ruby failure:
I recommend using two workbenches when trying to cut such a big sheet of metal, with a jigsaw:

Drew lines, to match the stock tunnel, which included a slight widening of the tunnel towards the back. I used a piece of 2-1/4" DOM tube, and a piece of angle iron, in the vise to match the stock curve:

That's the difference between a well executed mod and a hack job, planning the finish up front.Indy510 wrote:I want the backseat to still fit, so I made a bent 1x2 piece to reinforce the hacked out area:

Made some fish plates ... and coated the back with weld-thru primer ... but it helps to scrape it off for 1/4" around where the welds will go
