I can tell your fab skills are getting better!
Im liking the overall direction of this car. Must be fun seeing it all come together.

Thanks ... yeah it's weird to finally have a car that's almost "finished" ... I've never been so nervous to drive and park a car ...
I used a screwdriver and hammer to knock off all the stock sound deadening: ... next time I'm gonna try dry ice

I had disconnected the rear part of the headliner, before paint ... so I drilled holes in this removable piece that the headliner glues to, and sewed it on after spray adhesive:

I used 3M windshield adhesive .. and made sure it wasn't the "fast cure" which only has 10-15mins working time (that wouldn't have been enough time)

Everybody loves this car.
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.

I also love the photos from the beginning of the thread. Bring that old camera back!
I've wondered about the factory sound deadener. Does everyone remove it for weight, just to see the condition of the metal underneath, or because it's always cracked and falling apart anyway? My car didn't come with it so I don't really know. I do know that when I put new sound deadener under the carpet the car got like 25% quieter.

Re: Indy's 2dr 710 named "Jigokuhemichidzure"
I did it in the back of my wagon because it was kinda ugly after years of holding crap. And it did show one bad spot. Also I stripped it around the shifter hole as I was reshaping the metal there, and that stuff comes off anyways.
Havent done the foot wells yet, but from underneath my car is spotless.
So, yes to all of your questions.

510 floors tend to rust from the inside out. The outside may not be a good indicator of condition.Laecaon wrote:Havent done the foot wells yet, but from underneath my car is spotless...

Re: Indy's 2dr 710 named "Jigokuhemichidzure"
Thanks everyone ... yeah, there was some rust hidden under the stock sound deadening / interior tar. Nothing bad enough to need more than a wire wheel, but water can get trapped under it.
